Our inspiration: sport and education as a catalyst for change
Aim Higher Academy was born from a deep belief that sport and education is a powerful tool to positively influence young lives. After many years involved in education, sport and coaching, it became clear to our leadership that sport benefits extend far beyond the playing field and education benefits far beyond the classroom.
Our directors Byron, Leisa and Lee have a combined 50 plus years in education settings and a combined 60 plus years in sports settings, at every level!
When delivered well, sporting programs alongside appropriate provision build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and resilience, while keeping young people engaged in education. However, access to quality programs isn't equal across communities. Many regional, remote, and disadvantaged areas lack structured sporting programs, quality coaching, and mentorship.
Aim Higher Academy was created to bridge this gap. Our passion stems from a desire to create opportunities for young people to believe in themselves, stay connected to education, and envision positive pathways for their future.
That's why we work to mentor coaches alongside our youth and young adults.
Making a real difference: our impact on students and communities
Aim Higher Academy makes a tangible difference by using sport as a positive gateway to education, personal development, and future opportunities. Many young people naturally engage through sport, and Backed by evidence from organisations such as the World Health Organization and Beyond Blue, we know that structured sport, positive role models, and strong community connections play a critical role in improving mental health, building resilience, and reducing anti-social behaviour.
Our programmes are designed to support sports clubs, schools and community organisations by encouraging improved engagement, attendance, effort, and behaviour, while also helping young people develop confidence and life skills.
Aim Higher Academy delivers programmes that include combining sport with mentoring, educational support, and positive role models.
By connecting young people with mentors, community leaders, and potential career pathways, AHA helps participants see opportunities for their future and to feel supported by their community.
Our big dream: national reach, lasting impact
The long-term vision for Aim Higher Academy is to become a national organisation that delivers high-quality sport and education programmes to young people and their coaches across Australia, particularly in communities that currently have limited access to these opportunities.
Our goal is to build strong partnerships with sports clubs, schools, community organisations, sporting bodies, and businesses to create programs that support youth development, educational engagement, and pathways into employment for participants.
In the future, Aim Higher Academy hopes to expand its reach across metropolitan, regional, and remote communities, helping thousands of young people develop the confidence, discipline, and skills they need to succeed in life.
Ultimately, the dream is to create a network of programs that consistently support young people, strengthen communities, and provide positive alternatives that help young people aim higher for their future.
