Transforming futures through sport, education and mentorship
Discover more about the Aim Higher Academy's unique programmes designed to empower young people across Australia. We go beyond sport to build brighter futures, one community at a time.
Our unique approach
Aim Higher Academy programmes combine sport, education, and mentorship in a way that focuses on long-term outcomes for young people, not just participation in sport. We use sport as an engagement tool, but our programmes are designed to support broader outcomes such as improved school attendance, better behaviour, better numeracy and literacy, stronger life skills, and greater confidence. We also support coaches with our extensive coach mentoring programmes.
The young participants we are searching for are those aged 6 years to 18 years old, although young adults can also be considered. Also, we have a particular interest in those who are:
- In remote or country areas
- Underperforming in school
- Disadvantaged in society in any way, however major or minor
- Those who are underprivileged in any way, however major or minor
- Those in incarceration
- Those released from incarceration
- Those of concern to Police
- Those with behavioural issues in schools
- Those with learning difficulties
Aim Higher in SPORT!
We focus on long-term development, using sport as a catalyst for life and personal growth.
The key focus of our programmes can be altered dependent on desired outcomes that include, but are not limited to, high performance or recreational participation in sport.
We work directly with schools, sports clubs and community groups to address specific local needs, especially in regional and remote areas.
Our programmes are a combination of on field and classroom based learning. We have specialist Physical Education teachers and coaches with the abilities in the following sports:
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
- Touch Football
- Tag
- Soccer
- AFL
- Multi-sport
Aim Higher as a COACH!
Our coach mentoring programmes are designed to build capacity in coaches, and support networks that benefit young people throughout their lives.
Our programmes can be delivered online or in-person, and are specific to the sport in question. We can do seminars, webinars, provide access to online resources or do more long-term, bespoke programmes with individual or groups of coaches.
Our approach to the seminar based topics include:
- What to coach / How to coach it
- How to plan it
- How to manage it
- Things coaches do wrong
- Things traditional coaching courses don't teach
- Attack specifics, including core and unit skill
- Defence specifics, including core and unit skill
Our team have some amazing and extensive coaching experiences and backgrounds for coaches to benefit from.
Aim Higher in CLASS!
Our school programmes can be sport or non-sport based, but all our programmes focus on several things, including the following:
- That everyone is good at something. We find what it is and we nurture it.
- Building positive relationships
- Why school matters and why work matters.
- Social media use in a positive way
- Goal identification, goal setting and goal accountability
We use bespoke report cards to monitor classroom behaviours in relation to goals set.
Work is carried out by our experienced group of qualified and practicing teachers, who are specialists working with children of all backgrounds and abilities.
We can also offer in-person or online virtual educational support, or indeed, a mixture of the two approaches
How to participate
